OUR HOME PAGE
- Do you need help making ends meet?
- Having financial problems?
Then this website is for you, designed to help you find your way through the financial problems of living either on a budget, a benefit or a low income.
This website was born out of a need for Christchurch residents to be able to access up to date information about how to save money.
Who Am I?
Anna, mother to 4 children, almost wife, and working from home in our family business.
10 years ago things were quite different, I had 2 children who I was solo parenting on very little income via the DPB and some part-time work. More recently, I have been involved in Back to Basics, a communal group in Cromwell sharing tips, tricks and how to live cheaply.
The bones of this website were written specifically to help those on the DPB keep healthy, safe and nurtured.
Unfortunately a lot of the information has become defunct as businesses providing free firewood, free computing etc have fallen into the red zone, and beaches and walkways have become inaccessible. There is now a new set of special grants, benefits and money available if you have been earthquake affected and I hope to get all this information onto the site soon.
Following the earthquake I saw a need to provide information to the wider Christchurch population who may be feeling financial strain.
Feel free to email me with your comments, offers of help, or if you wish to advertise your service. [email protected]

AND Karen
Karen, mum to two busy boys, Anna's sister and friend.
Fabulous cook and clever ideas lady!
Hi, I have always been interested in how to live cheaply, recycle and have a full and happy family life.
My immediate family and my husbands extended family became very stressed post the second earthquake. My Parents-in-law and brother and sister-in law have both lost their houses. We were lucky enough to be able to provide accommodation post both earthquakes.
One week after the February earthquake I resigned from my contract job as HR and H&S Advisor. I am now an at home doing small bits of paid work where I can. My husband and I are trying to bring stability to our family and reduce stress. I am fortunate to be able to have the choice and use the skills our mother taught us, to live a more financially frugal life.
Having previously suffered mild depression I am a firm believer that in order to maintain a healthy body and mind that you need to eat right and exercise. These are two of my passions as I have a Cordon Bleu qualification and hold a Diploma in Sport and Recreation.
My input into this information is based around the area of how to keep children occupied with little cost, quick healthy and seasonal food ideas and how to continue with your hobbies and passions in a way that does not cost a lot.
